Welcome to Cedar Falls Community Main Street's "Holiday Hoopla"

A dedicated and passionate committee of volunteers, downtown merchants, and CMS staff dreamed up "Holiday Hoopla." The event is designed to create a fun and memorable holiday experiences for people of all ages in the downtown district.   The "Hoopla" starts the day after Thanksgiving and continues through the holiday season, with a host of special events and contests.

The first official Holiday Hoopla "Kickoff" was the day after Thanksgiving, on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009.  

The Kickoff always welcomes Santa Claus and is the beginning of the shopping season in downtown Cedar Falls.  At around 6 p.m. live entertainment takes over Main Street. There's music, seasonal characters, and plenty of family-friendly fun, and food as everyone waits for Santa to arrive.

Santa’s ARRIVAL is ALWAYS a SECRET!  
Whether young or old, each year this suspense is sure to delight and please children of all ages!

Santa's arrival is then followed by a "March Down Main Street" for the lighting of the Main Street Sculpture Tree at First and Main St., followed by spectacular Winter Fireworks over the Cedar River by Gateway Park. 

This year's Kickoff will be Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, starting at 6 p.m. in downtown Cedar Falls. It's an evening you won’t want to miss! Santa will arrive better than ever! Mark your calendars now!
